Playing Discgolf

I’ve been playing disc golf for less than a year, and I love it. I haven’t taken part of a tournament yet, other than the 1st Annual Compass Disc Golf Tourney. I want to enter the Pier Park doubles on Wednesdays.

My wife, Roxanne, has shown interest in disc golf this week. Monday, I was at work and called her cell to let her know that I wanted to go to Pier park and play a round or two, and she said that she wanted to come too. So I posted a note on the ODSA forum that I was headed out to Pier that afternoon with my wife that has never played before. A lady golfer had mentioned that she and her husband would be at Rockwood DG park and wouldn’t be able to make it, and if we would come out there. I decided that it would be better for Rox’s first time playing to be at an easier course, like Rockwood. So we went out to Gresham with Abby to play, we got there and met Shawn, the lady disc golfer, and her husband.

We were about to start playing after warming up at the practice basket. When all of a sudden this large group of guys that were already playing there approached the first hole. The group made Rox feel uneasy and decided that she didn’t want to play with such a large crowd behind us. We thank Shawn and her husband for letting us play with them and told them that what happened and how we felt. We took Abby over to the play ground and let her play before heading home. Rox really enjoyed coming out and playing disc golf.

I will be taking Rox to Glenwood DC on her day off to play a round or more.
